I’m sure that our families don’t know how much we enjoy the finer things at Fish Camp. Here is proof of the cultured learning we experience as Dave and Rob lead our literary session of the night.

It was another great year at Fish Camp. Bruce pulled out the victory at the last possible moment with an 18″ beauty. Great people, great food and good times, in spite of the rain.

Showing off our new kitchen. Also, the top of the 1910 Sta-Lit Lantern found near the headwaters of the North Fork of Squaw Creek. What is the story behind that lantern?

Another great year at Fish Camp. I found a picture of the whole lamp that we found the top from while exploring the north fork headwaters. It is a Warren Sta-lit Kerosene lantern built around 1910.

Bruce and I checked out the roads and creek on Monday April 10th. As you can see, the roads have been repaired but creek is still running high and with color. This is the highest we have ever seen the creek this late in April.

Bruce and I went to check out conditions at Fish Camp on February 9th and 10th and found the following conditions. On the 9th we went in from Fenders Ferry Road. There were at least five places like the photos below where the road washed out to some degree. Then we had to cross a muddy washout. 

Then we came to slide that totally wiped out the road.

On the 10th we went around to the Pt McCloud access. The road is in pretty good shape until you get to the road fork that goes to Salt Creek. The only really bad spot is about 200 yards before the Squaw Creek bridge just above camp.

Camp held up pretty well. Big water but about 8′ lower than peak flow.

We tried to go to the other side of the slide but got stopped by this about 3/4 mile from camp by this washout.

The Headwaters

After years of discussing, wondering and exploring, Bruce and I finally found the Headwaters of Squaw Creek.

It may not The Headwaters look impressive but the water was as sweet as honey!
